Sheila FitzPatrick: GDPR and What It Means for Your Business

Since the European Union General Data Protection Regulation came into effect on 25th May 2018, businesses all around the globe were challenged with implementing changes in the way they manage data privacy and its processes in order to comply with this new legislation.

Ascender had the pleasure of hosting an intimate evening with Sheila FitzPatrick, a global expert in Data Privacy and Sovereignty laws with our key customers and prospects. Sheila holds strategic seats on several committees including the European Union Data Protection Advisory Council, the Asia Pacific Data Protection Framework Advisory Board and the Pacific Rim Privacy and Cybersecurity Advisory Group. Ascender has been working closely with her to introduce these important changes to our organisation and how we work with our customers and prospects. In this session, Sheila shared with us the key points of GDPR, its effect on Australian businesses looking at broadening their customer base across international borders, managing the impact of how businesses handle data, attracting talent with the right data privacy and compliance approaches, and insights into debunking the myths around this topic.
