26 July 2018: Ascender is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Wilson as its new CEO, effective 26 July 2018.
With a recent re-organisation to unify Ascender’s business unit structures more closely around our customers and a continuation on best-of-class delivery, the Board and former CEO, Marjukka Maki-Hokkonen, have agreed now is the right time for her to step down from her position and appoint Andrew Wilson as her successor immediately.
Marjukka has been instrumental in shaping the new organisational structure and worked closely with Andrew in building the important foundations for growth. Andrew has been a key member of Ascender’s executive leadership team since 2017. As Head of Strategy, Andrew has played a key role in many important initiatives. In particular, he has been fundamental in helping to transform customer satisfaction levels and enhance the overall customer experience.
Announcing Andrew’s appointment, Ascender Chairman Andrew Gray said “Andrew is an exceptional leader. His track record in strategic planning and innovation is very strong. He was chosen in close consultation with the Board and Marjukka for his collaborative leadership style and for building high-performance structures.”

Andrew is an active member of the Board of ReachOut Australia, Australia’s leading online mental health organisation for young people and their parents, and lives in Sydney with his wife and two children.
